Talk First
The goal of this
program is to help parents feel more comfortable talking
to their kids about puberty, sex, and the consequences
that come from sex.
We will:
1. Reveal facts and
data on sexually transmitted diseases, teen pregnancy, and
trends in teen sex.
2. Talk about the
emotional and spiritual side effects from sex.
3. Give
communication strategies to make talking with your teen
easier.
4. Talk about the
process preteens go through to help prepare them for
puberty.
There are 2 different
discussions.
One is for parents with kids in 3rd – 6th
grades, all about puberty. It will give tips on conversation
starters and your child's transition into the
preteen world. It will also introduce you to
resources that may help you have an easier time.
The other is for parents with 7th -12th
grade teens, which will give advice on how to talk
about sex, give you facts to share with your teen, and
equip you with knowledge about what is happening in the
lives of teens when it comes to sex.
