Hope is offered by volunteer counselors at CPC, who reach out to women, men and families experiencing unexpected pregnancies with friendship, information and assistance.

What does a volunteer counselor do? A volunteer counselor meets one-on-one with clients at CPC. Clients are often frightened and unsure of what to do. A volunteer counselor offers acceptance, someone to talk to and resources to help clients during their pregnancy.

What are the required qualifications? Volunteer counselors are dedicated Christians who are at least 21 years old and have a heart of compassion for women and men in pregnancy related crisis.

How much time does it take? CPC volunteer counselors typically volunteer four hours per week.

How do I become trained? First, attend a volunteer counselor training seminar. CPC offers at least one training seminar each year, more if the demand is there.

The seminars offer 21 hours of excellent material on topics relevant to volunteer counseling. After your classroom training is completed, you will have in-depth on-the-job training to prepare you for counseling during your volunteer shift.

If no formal training sessions are scheduled at the time you are interested in beginning, there are training CDs that are available to get you started until you can attend the seminar.

What training is involved in post abortion facilitator, Receptionist, and parenting class teacher?

Post Abortion Facilitator:  The individual that would help with facilitating our post abortion Bible Study group called “Forgiven and Set Free” (written by women who were themselves post-abortive), needs to complete our volunteer training and then be trained and mentored by our Client Services Director. If this individual is post abortive herself, she (or he) must first complete the same Bible study.

Receptionist:  Our Receptionists should complete the volunteer training and then be trained on how to answer the phones by our Client Services Director. If no training is available at the time of interest, we can do in house training first with the expectation that the individual will participate in the next upcoming training. This same protocol is in effect for all positions.

Parenting Class Teacher:  This individual should plan to go through our volunteer training, and shadow our parenting class teachers for a few classes. It is desirable that she (or he, if wanting to work with men) have some teaching experience and be comfortable in front of a group.

How much does it cost? $30 will cover the cost of the training manual, which will be yours to keep.   Scholarships may be available if needed.  Please contact Lenore Legere at 252-757-0003.

Where is it held? Our training is held in the training room of the Greenville office,
1012 Charles Blvd

Basic Volunteer Training is offered twice a year, fall and spring.
The training is required for those who will have direct client contact .

Please call Lenore Legere for more information about working with clients.
